LSU's Mwani Wilkinson becomes 11th Tigers' player to enter transfer portal

LSU lost its 11th player to the transfer portal on Friday, with sophomore Mwani Wilkinson opting to leave the program. The freshman forward entered the portal on Friday.

New head coach Matt McMahon has no scholarship players from this past season still on the roster.

Will Wade was fired by LSU on March 12th after the school received an NCAA notice of allegations regarding the men's basketball program. In the three weeks since Wade left, 11 players have entered the transfer portal, two players left for the NBA draft and all four of the commitments in the 2022 and 2023 classes reopened their recruitments.

The following were followed by Eric Gaines, Justice Williams, Bradley Ezewiro, Adam Miller, Jerrell Colbert, and Shareef O' Neal. Tari Eason, the team's top scorer, and Darius Days, the team's second-leading scorer, were among the players who declared for the NBA draft.

McMahon was asked about keeping the current roster in place when he was introduced as LSU's head coach last week.

McMahon said that the most important thing was hit the ground running. I want people who want to be here, I want people who want to be a part of something special.

McMahon has already landed three transfers and a high school recruit, but he will have to build his first roster from scratch. Kendal Coleman, a Shreveport, Louisiana native, was the first to join the fold. Coleman averaged more than 15 points and 10 points per game.

Kendal averaged a double double in his freshman year. He has a high character and we love his energy on the court. He will be on campus this summer.

Justice Hill, who averaged 13.4 points and 5.1 assists for Murray State, and Trae Hannibal, who put up 9.2 points for LSU, have followed McMahon to LSU. On Thursday, McMahon got his first high schooler, with the center choosing the Tigers. The Racers have seen nine players enter the transfer portal, including Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year KJ Williams, who joined the LSU roster.

Wade and LSU could be in trouble with the NCAA due to the Notice of Allegations.
