If the Utah Jazz made the big man available via trade, the Dallas Mavericks would be interested.

On Friday's edition of The Lowe Post, Tim MacMahon gave the report toZach Lowe. He said that Gobert would love to play with Luka Doncic.

The 29-year-old Gobert, a three-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA Team selection, is averaging 15.4 points and an NBA-high 14.6 rebound in his ninth NBA season. He has been with the Jazz for his entire career.

It is fair to wonder if the Jazz have gone as far as they can go with the two-star combination of Gobert and Mitchell, especially as Utah has struggled lately.

The Jazz lost five in a row until they beat the Lakers 122-109 on Thursday. They went on a 2-11 slump that sent them tumbling out of the West's top tier.

Utah dominated the regular season and finished first in the Western Conference, but lost to the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round in part because point guard Mike Conley sat all but one game with a right hamstring strain.

If the Jazz fail to make the playoffs, a trade could be in the works, although Utah is not uncompetitive with Mitchell and Gobert leading the way. Utah is in the playoffs for the fifth year in a row and has reached the playoffs each year.

After trading Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards in February, the Dallas Mavericks could be in the market for a big man. Dallas is tied for third in the Western Conference and Gobert would be a great fit.

An already strong defense would get better with the three-time Defensive Player of the Year. Gobert is one of the most efficient offensive players in the league, shooting an NBA-high 71.2 percent from the field.

Everyone in the league looks up to the Phoenix Suns and the Mavs and Jazz are fighting for a spot in the playoffs.
