Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022: England could face Scotland or Wales in group stage

After the draw for the World Cup finals was made on Friday, England could face either Scotland or Wales.

After the European play-off path is completed, one of Wales, Scotland or Ukraine will be in Group B.

Iran and the USA have been drawn together.

The opening game of the World Cup will take place on December 18th, when the hosts will play Ecuador.

England will play Iran on the same day.

France and Brazil are both in Group D, while Brazil is in Group G.

Wales will have to beat the winners of Scotland and Ukraine in the play-off final in June to reach the World Cup for the first time in 60 years.

The semi-finals were postponed because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

When do England play?

After playing Iran on 21 November, England will play the USA on 25 November and then face one of Scotland, Wales or Ukraine on 29 November.

The USA will play the winner of the European play-off on the first day of the World Cup.

They will play England at the World Cup for the first time. The two sides met at the Euro 2020 tournament and the game ended goalless.

England and Wales have never met at a World Cup finals. The sides met in the group stage of Euro 2016 and England won.
