The Dodgers acquired Craig Kimbrel from the White Sox in exchange for A.J. Pollock.

Kimbrel could be the Dodgers' closer after Kenley Jansen left L.A. for the Atlanta Braves in free agency.

Pollock is a strong addition to the White Sox lineup, possibly replacing Leury Garcia as a starting outfielder.

Kimbrel has been one of the best closers in baseball over the past decade. He is ninth on the all-time list for Major League Baseball's active saves leader.

Kimbrel played for the San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and White Sox after breaking into the league with the Atlanta Braves.

Kimbrel had 42 or more saves in four of the last five seasons.

The eight-time All-Star and one-time World Series champion took on a reduced role with the Cubs in 2019.

In 39 appearances for the Cubs in 2021, Kimbrel went 2-2 with a 0.49 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and 23 saves in 25 chances, earning him an All-Star selection.

Before the deadline, Kimbrel was moved into a setup role behind Liam Hendriks. Kimbrel has more experience in that role than any of the other DodgersRelievers, which could give him a leg up in replacing Jansen in L.A.

The Dodgers dealt from a position of strength in order to acquire Kimbrel.

Pollock won a World Series with the Dodgers in 2020.

Pollock earned his only All-Star nod and Gold Glove award in 2015, when he hit.315 with 20 home runs, 76 RBI, 112 runs scored and 39 stolen bases.

Pollock is coming off of a strong season in which he hit.300 with 21 homers, 69 RBI, 53 runs and nine steals, but he never achieved that level of production again.

While Pollock was a platoon player in L.A., the career.281 hitter may see more consistent playing time in Chicago.

He is a tough out who adds a lot of depth to the lineup, but he won't be asked to carry the load.
