One of my favorite frequent flyer programs is LifeMiles, because of the great redemption rates on Star Alliance partners, plus all the ways to earn miles with the program. The LifeMiles program has promotions on purchased miles, as well as partnerships with major points currencies. There is a new bonus for transferring partner points currency to the LifeMiles program.
You can receive a 25% bonus when you transfer your lifemiles to citi thankyou. You won't see the transfer bonus on Citi's website because it's being offered by Avianca LifeMiles. You should see the bonus miles added to your account after you transfer.
There are several credit cards that can be used to earn ThankYou points. Bonus miles may not post instantly, but points can transfer at a 1:1 ratio.
The program is great because you can redeem LifeMiles on all Star Alliance airlines. There are no fuel surcharges on one-way premium cabin redemption rates.
There are sometimes promotions on redemptions, which can offer more value. LifeMiles can be used to redeem on United Airlines for domestic flights, which may be the most practical use of the points.
Personally I wouldn't speculatively transfer points, but with a specific use in mind this could be a great value, whether you're looking at traveling in first class on All Nippon Airways or a business class trip on a countless.
LifeMiles doesn't always have the same award availability as Star Alliance partners. In some cases the program doesn't have access to partner awards that other airlines do, and in other cases the inverse is true.
I always recommend doing an award search before you get miles in a program, to get a sense of how award availability lines up with your needs.
You can get a 25% bonus when you transfer Citi ThankYou points to Avianca LifeMiles in April. This could be a great deal for redemptions of the Star Alliance.
I use LifeMiles all the time for premium cabin Star Alliance redemptions, and the program offers great value. LifeMiles sells miles directly, often at a reasonable cost, so I know some prefer to save their points for other uses, and just buy miles directly.
Do you plan to convert Citi ThankYou points into LifeMiles?
