The in-stadium experience makes going to sporting events fun. The mascot's antics, graphics on the jumbotron, and fan interaction through the in-stadium camera crew make attending a live sporting event an unforgettable experience. The experience can be affected by the music played in the stadium.
Rock and Roll: Parts 1 and 2 and We Will Rock You are big, traditional sports songs that get the fans up and moving. It can be hysterical when a DJ starts getting creative with what they play over the speakers. That is what the Seattle DJ did last night.
Less than 10 minutes into the first period of the game, Jamie Oleksiak dropped his gloves with Vegas right winger Keegan Kolesar. The DJ at the stadium would let the fight play out and let the fans cheer. They might play something to get the fans going again after the fight is over. The DJ went beyond the call of duty. The theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was played when the fight started.
It was a great showcase of music. They had that song in their back pocket. They waited for the first fight to happen at Climate Pledge Arena since the Oscars and when it happened, they were ready.
The song is about Will Smith hitting Chris Rock at the Oscars after Rock made a joke about Will Smith's wife having an autoimmune disorder. If you haven't heard about it, please get out of there.
This wasn't the first fight in a game since the Oscars. The fight happened in Los Angeles. You would expect the DJ at the arena to play the Fresh Prince theme since the game was three nights after the Oscars and Bel Air is in LA. The fight featured the Kings, Sean Durzi, and the Kraken, but there was no music over it. That's fine, like I said before. The in-arena DJ missed his chance.
The next game is tomorrow. It will be the team's second game at home against Vegas. If we're lucky, we'll have another fight break out, and if the DJ is as good as they seem, we'll have Will Smith's sample of Grover Washington Jr.
