South Carolina junior forward Aliyah Boston won two more major national player of the year awards Thursday, taking home the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Wade Trophy and Associated Press Player of the Year.

She became the first player to win the Defensive Player of the Year and the Player of the Year in the same week.

Dawn Staley was named coach of the year by the two organizations. Kim Mulkey of LSU won the coach of the year award.

The South Carolina team that has spent the entire season ranked No. 1 in the polls has been led by the 6-foot-5 Boston, who has averaged 16.8 points on 54.2% shooting, 12.2 rebound and 2.5 blocks per game. She is one of five candidates for the John R. Wooden Award.

The South Carolina guard said that Aliyah would have been the player of the year if she had not gotten the award. I thought she was going to get it because she is the GOAT. Definitely excited for both of them.

The first national semifinal game will be played at 7 p.m. and the winner of that game will play for the title. Friday. South Carolina is known for its suffocating defense and dominance on the boards and is 12-0 against ranked opponents this season and holds teams to a nation-best 32.7% shooting from the field.

The list of 10 All-Americans was released by the WBCA.

Boston, Clark, Hillmon, Howard and Smith are all multiple-time All-Americans.
