Oscars Producer Says LAPD Prepared To Arrest Will Smith Over Chris Rock Slap

Will Smith was going to be arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department for putting his hand on Chris Rock at The Oscars, but Chris waved them off, according to the show's producer.

In a preview clip for his interview with GMA, Will Packer says that if Chris wanted to arrest him, the police would.

Packer tells T.J. that cops were going to arrest Will for battery and let Chris know he could press criminal charges against him.

Packer says he told Chris to let the cops finish their spiel before he made a decision.

Chris decided against pressing charges and Will was allowed to remain front and center at The Oscars, where he won the award for best actor and gave a teary speech.

Chris revealed at his show Wednesday night that he is still processing what happened and will talk about it later on in his comedy tour.
