A feature that will allow your device to detect smart trackers in close proximity is being worked on. The Play services APK was decompiling when folks at 9to5Google spotted the function. In March of this year, they say, the feature began to be worked on. It was found that the capability was integrated with the Play services, which should allow availability for a wide range of phones.

Apple and Tile have similar features that allow users to find nearby AirTags. The tag- scanning feature is going to be integrated into the operating system. In the future, you won't need to have a separate app for this feature as it will be built into the Android operating system.

There are hints about the feature in the latest version of Play Services. The decompiled code clearly shows the device alert and tag detected notification for BLE tags. There are three types of tags; tile tag, ATag and Finder Tag. We can't say what Finder Tag refers to, but we can point to Apple's AirTag and the Tile Tag.

Your device will be able to ring and notify you if it finds a tag or tracker. This feature will help prevent trackers from being planted on you. Both Apple and Tile have apps for detecting smart tags near your phone. They require manual scanning and are not as fast.
