Sources told Adrian Wojnarowski that the Los Angeles Lakers hope to have James back in the lineup for their game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.
James returned to Los Angeles earlier this week to continue his rehabilitation after he missed his second game in a row.
Sources told Wojnarowski that the Lakers are hoping for the return of Anthony Davis, who is progressing toward being a game-time decision. Davis has a right midfoot injury.
The return of James and Davis would be a huge boost to the Los Angeles team, which is in danger of missing the playoffs.
The Lakers are one-half game ahead of the Spurs for 10th place in the West and are one game behind the ninth-place Pelicans.
The Lakers used their 32nd different starting lineup of the season in their loss to the Mavericks on Tuesday night.
In 55 games this season, James is averaging 30.1 points, 8.2 rebound and 6.3 assists. The NBA's highest scoring average is currently held by the four-time league champ.
