The Los Angeles Rams have a contract with Bobby Wagner.

The five-year deal could be worth up to $65 million, according to the report.

The 31-year-old was released by the Seattle Seahawks on March 9 after spending his entire 10-year career with them.

Thank you Seattle for everything. It will forever be my home.

Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos as part of a major upheaval for the Seattle Seahawks.

When the franchise won Super Bowl XLVIII and took theNFC crown again in the following year, it was due in part to the contributions of the 2012 draft class of Wagner and Wilson. The tides in the Pacific Northwest shifted after their exits.

The salary cap was shaved by $16.6 million in 2022. He was due to hit free agency in 2023, so it probably factored into the equation.

It was only a matter of time before the former Utah State star signed a new contract since he was coming off another productive season.

He earned his eighth straight trip to the Pro Bowl by finishing with 170 tackles, one sack, one interception, and one forced fumble. He continued to perform at a high level even though his streak of five consecutive All-Pro nods came to an end.

Sheil Kapadia of The Athletic ranked him as the best linebacker on the board on the eve of free agency. Touchdown Wire wrote that Mark Schofield is still an asset on passing downs, even though he is an outside linebacker.

In his career, he has averaged 138.3 tackles and six pass breakups. He missed three games in the previous seven seasons.

He missed one defensive snap due to a knee injury in the Week 17 victory over the Detroit Lions.

When players with a Los Angeles native resume are released, the front office feels a decline on the immediate horizon.

He will turn 32 on June 27 and there aren't many indicators pointing to a rapid drop for him in 2022. Even if his best days are behind him, he should make an immediate impact in Los Angeles.

The year after the Rams reached the Super Bowl, they lost nine games and missed the playoffs. Les Snead and Sean McVay are not resting on their laurels.

The futures of Von Miller and Aaron Donald were in doubt after the Super Bowl. The latter was hitting free agency while the former was weighing retirement.

Miller signed with the Buffalo Bills, which will take away a big piece from the defense in the second half of 2021. While not a direct replacement for the experienced pass-rusher, the arrival of Wagner will be a big boost for L.A.
