Microsoft is planning on introducing an Xbox Game Pass family plan this year, according to a report. According to Windows Central, Microsoft has been thinking about a family plan for Xbox Game Pass for a long time and that the company is in a position to announce one soon.

The family plan option will give access to the game pass for five players and will be cheaper than the separate accounts. Microsoft uses the Family Account system for its Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions, according to reports.

Five players will reportedly be able to access an Xbox Game Pass family plan

It is not clear if there will be separate family subscriptions for the Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Ultimate version of Microsoft's game subscription service. Microsoft had to work through details on how royalties are distributed and compensation for third-party publishers that license their content for the main Xbox Game Pass plans.

The PC Game Pass is offered by Microsoft for $9.99 per month. You can upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $14.99 and get online access, but you have to pay for it.

Just days after Sony announced its updated PS Plus subscriptions, there was news of a potential family plan for the Xbox Game Pass. Multiple tiers are included in Sony's answer to the Xbox Game Pass.
