The partnership with iFixit will allow customers who want to repair their own devices to do so from the comfort of their own home.

Apple introduced a self-repair program last year. The program, which is supposed to be launching in early 2022, is designed to let users do their own repairs.

Apple will only offer self-repair options for the iPhone 12 and 13 at launch, but will offer them for other devices in the future. More than 200 individual parts and tools will be provided by Apple.

The repair option is limited at the moment. The repair parts for the S20, the S21, and the Tab S7 Plus will be provided by iFixit, but not the latest S22 devices. Additional devices will be supported over time, and the initiative will be launched in the summer.

Customers who use the self repair program will be provided with step-by-step repair guides for replacing display assembly, back glass, and charging ports. In a statement, Ramon Gregory said that he was creating more ways for consumers to extend the lifespan of its products with premium care experiences.

The self-repair programs were introduced by Apple and SAMSUNG in response to the right to repair legislation that many states have crafted. Apple and other tech companies have fought against such legislation, and are trying to stave off wide sweeping requirements by implementing their own solutions.
