The Encode Plus smart lock has support for Apple's home keys feature in the Wallet app on the iPhone and Apple Watch. The smart lock is available in a variety of finishes at The Home Depot and Lowe's for $300 in the United States.
You can add a key card to the Wallet app without using a physical key. You can lock orunlock the door that the Encode Plus is installed on if you hold a compatible phone or watch near it. The feature requires an updated version of the iPhone or an updated version of the Apple Watch.
If you want to use Express Mode, you can simply hold your phone near the lock or you can use Face ID or Touch ID as an additional layer of security. If your phone has run out of battery, you can still use Power Reserve to open the door for up to five hours.
HomeKit is supported by Encode Plus for controlling the lock with the Home app or voice commands on an Apple Watch. If you don't have an Apple Watch or an iPhone, the lock has a physical key that you can use to open the door.
The Schlage Encode Plus does not require a smart home bridge or any other hardware. The lock has four AA batteries and a low-battery indicator built into it.
Guests who need temporary access to your home can use access codes in the Home app.
Encode Plus is the first smart lock to support Apple&s home keys feature, but other options should enter the market over time.
