Microsoft reverses a potentially controversial change to how the console shares footage to social media. The update restores the ability to share content directly from the console rather than having to use a phone to do so. Brad Rossetti, a Microsoft employee, confirmed the change on social media.

If you want to quickly type out a message on your phone, it's a good idea to use the phone feature. It's nice to have the option to share it directly from the console, for those times when you don't have a phone. Microsoft's controversial change never left the test.

Both Sony and Nintendo have embraced this more flexible approach. Sony's approach involves uploading PS5 videos to its companion mobile app. You can use your phone to get a picture of the Nintendo console with aQR code. Both allow you to skip these processes entirely and post directly from their consoles, if you so choose.
