After missing out on the World Cup in Russia, the United States men's national team has qualified for the World Cup in 2022.

Despite losing 2-0 to Costa Rica on Tuesday, the USMNT was able to get one of the three automatic berths.

The U.S. needed to avoid a loss of six goals or more in order to make the playoffs.

The World Cup finals draw has a date and time.

- World Cup: Who has qualified and who is still in contention

The United States has 7 wins, 3 losses and 4 draws for 25 points in the 14-game qualification cycle. The Americans finished ahead of Costa Rica with a goal differential of +11 and three points behind Canada and Mexico.

The team was in a strong position throughout the cycle despite being inconsistent at times.

I think it is what we expected, but at times you wish it would have been different. I think what it turns out to be is what we expect.

We expected a lot of ups and downs when we qualified. We have a young group going through a lot of trials for the first time. We know how difficult it is to qualify.

The group of players on the current roster were not with the team when it missed out on the World Cup. The star player is Christian Pulisic, who is a forward for the Blues.

Tyler Adams said Tuesday that Christian has always felt that responsibility.

Growing up as a golden child in the U.S. soccer generation, people put expectations on him. He has dealt with them better than anyone would. He is expected to do things that other people like Lionel Messi and CR7 are supposed to do.

He is supposed to bring us to the World Cup.

The most consequential game the U.S. had played in a long time came in Sunday's game against Panama, and it came in the form of a hat trick by Pulisic. The team's best five goals went to Pulisic. In the history of the U.S., only four players have scored 12 goals over the course of two qualification cycles.

Yedlin said that the U.S. was chasing more than one goal.

The ultimate goal is to win a World Cup, but there are steps you have to take.

The eight four-team groups will be decided on Friday at 12 p.m. when the U.S. is placed into Pot 2. There is an hour and a half in Doha, Qatar.

There are three teams that have yet to be determined. Costa Rica will play New Zealand in the first game of the playoffs in June, while Australia or the United Arab Emirates will face off in the second game.

The winner of Wales vs. Scotland will get the final spot. The Scotland-Ukraine playoff match was originally scheduled for March 24 but has not been rearranged.
