Ella Purnell stands in front of a bus.

Showing quite the penchant for survivalist roles, Ella Purnell has signed onto another project with Amazon.

Purnell is the second lead in the series based on the video games. According to Variety, Purnell's role is still under wraps. The creators of Westworld, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, are behind the adaptation, along with co-showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

America was nearly destroyed in a nuclear war in the 21st century and the games are about survival. The character that Goggins will be playing is likely to be an advanced kind of zombie that was created by plagues. Purnell could be playing a human who is on the fringes of this world. Sources told Variety that her character was upbeat and direct with an all-American can-do spirit. She might be a tiny bit dangerous because of the intensity in her eyes.

Variety reports that production on the film is due to start later this year, so it's likely that more cast members will be named to fill out the ensemble. If you're in need of a video game-inspired show in your life right now, the Halo series on Paramount+ is something to fill the time while you wait for The Last of Us.
