According to multiple reports, the Title 42 public health order that allows border agents to expel illegal border crossers will be ended by the Biden administration.

The order was renewed by the Biden administration in August of 2021.

The Title 42 policy will be ended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week, people familiar with the plans told the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. There is no longer a serious danger that migrants could spread Covid in border detention facilities according to a draft of the new order reviewed by the Journal.

The implementation of the new order will be delayed until late May to give the administration time to prepare for a potential rise in migrants seeking to cross the southern border illegally.

Kate Bedingfield said the administration expects to see a new influx of migrants once Title 42 is lifted.

Bedingfield told reporters that there will be an influx of people to the border if Title 42 is lifted.

The Department of Homeland Security has warned that if the order is revoked, there will be an influx of illegal border crossing.

In the first year of President Biden's term in office, over 2 million migrants were taken into custody at the southern border. That was more than double the number of people who were taken into custody in a single year.

Border agents encountered more migrants in February than in the previous month.
