The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine has been devastating to witness. Our response has evolved as the circumstances have changed. In addition to supporting the refugee crisis and fighting misinformation, we're investing in Ukraine's people and businesses.
We are announcing a $5 million fund to give out equity-free cash awards. Up to $100,000 in non-dilutive funding as well as ongoing Google mentorship, product support and Cloud credits will be given to selected Ukraine-based startups, which will be announced on a rolling basis. The support is designed to help Ukrainian entrepreneurs maintain and grow their businesses, strengthen their community and build a foundation for post-war economic recovery.
There is a vibrant startup community in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the year, 126 startup have raised venture capital funding. Our CEO met with a number of the Ukrainian entrepreneurs at our campus. We heard ways in which the startup community could be helped by the internet giant.
Funding is only one part of the support required. Ukrainian startups have been invited to use the space as a temporary office. The first few startup run by women who have fled the country are already working from Campus, and we have seen their determination to succeed.
Ukrainian-led startups will be helped by support to succeed and build the tech that their country needs now. Tech companies will be key to rebuilding the Ukrainian economy, creating jobs, and positively impacting the cities they make their homes as the region starts to recover.
