Jim Carrey on Will Smith slap: I'd sue for $200 million if I was Chris Rock, actor tells Gayle King in CBS interview

Jim Carrey has put a price on Will Smith's slap, and it would cost him $200 million.

The Sonic the Hedgehog star told CBS Mornings that he was sickened by Smith's assault of Chris Rock on stage over a joke.

Carrey was surprised that Rock wouldn't be filing charges over the incident and joked that it would be a different story if he had been abused by the King Richard star.

Carrey said he would have announced this morning that he was suing Will for $200 million because the video was going to be there.

The Los Angeles Police Department was aware of the incident but did not investigate because Rock did not file a police report. Smith apologized for his actions.

Carrey said in an interview that he did not have the right to hit someone in the face because they said something.

I was sick. There was a standing ovation. I felt like Hollywood was spineless.

This is a clear sign that we are not the cool kids anymore.

Carrey and Kathy Griffin were among the comedians who voiced their concerns about the implications of Smith's actions for other performers.

It is a bad practice to walk up on stage and physically assault a comedian.

We have to worry about who will be the next Will Smith in comedy clubs and theaters.
