  • The White House may have used burner phones that day.

The former national security advisor said that President Donald Trump was aware of the meaning of "burner phones" when there was a seven-hour gap in his call logs.

The Washington Post and CBS News reported Tuesday that the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot is looking at a gap in the White House call logs to see if Trump communicated through his aides.

Trump said he was unaware of what a burner phone was.

I have no idea what a burner phone is, to the best of my knowledge, I have never heard of it.

In an interview with The Post, the former national security advisor claimed that Trump is aware of the term burner phones. He said that the two talked about how people usedburner phones to avoid scrutiny of their phone calls.

A member of the January 6 committee said the panel is investigating a possible coverup of the official White House record. According to the Post, a Trump spokesman said that Trump didn't play a part in the White House call logs and assumed all of his calls were recorded.

The White House call logs from January 6 were obtained by the House select committee investigating the Capitol riot.

The records show that on the morning of January 6, Trump spoke to several White House officials, as well as his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and a few members of Congress, including Jim Jordan of Ohio. There was no record of any calls made by Trump for seven hours and 37 minutes.

The seven-hour gap in the White House record is contrary to previous reporting of Trump's communications, including a mistaken phone call to Sen. Mike Lee of Utah.

A person for Trump did not respond to the request for comment.
