Air Tahiti Nui is introducing a new partnership with Alaska Airlines and has announced plans to fly to Seattle. As of October 4, 2022, Air Tahiti Nui will introduce 2x weekly flights between Papeete and Seattle. The schedule for the flight is as follows: The Papeete to Seattle is departing at 10:00PM and arriving at 10:00AM. The flight will operate on both Tuesdays and Saturdays and on both Wednesdays and Sundays. The flight will cover a distance of 4,784 miles in each direction.
Each of the four Boeing 787-9s has 294 seats. There are 30 business class seats, 32 premium economy seats, and 232 economy class seats. Read my review of the 787-9 business class.
Los Angeles is the second destination in the United States after Seattle. The fifth freedom flights to Paris are from Los Angeles. In addition to destinations in the United States and France, Air Tahiti Nui also flies to Tokyo and New Zealand.
There is some good news if you want to redeem miles for business class travel on Air Tahiti Nui. There are two business class award seats available on many frequencies. It's awesome, since finding award seats to Tahiti can be difficult.
American AAdvantage is the best program for redemption on Air Tahiti Nui. You can book awards between the United States and South Pacific in business class. I think the award seats should be available by phone with American.
Seattle isn't the second biggest O&D market in the country for Tahiti, so it's a bit odd that it's being added as a second destination. I think this is the explanation for the logic of this route.
Alaska Airlines will be partnering with Air Tahiti Nui on April 1, 2022. It will be possible to earn Alaska Mileage Plan miles for travel on Air Tahiti Nui. Award redemptions are expected to be rolled out this spring, so hopefully it will happen in the coming months.

It's logical that Alaska Airlines has hubs in both Los Angeles and Seattle, so this will provide a bit of connection for Air Tahiti Nui passengers.

This will initially offer mileage earning opportunities, and as of some point this spring should offer mileage redemptions as well.
