Pete Buttigieg is the Secretary of Transportation in the U.S. Pete Buttigieg can take his electric vehicles and his bicycles, and he and his husband can stay out of the girls' bathroom, according to derogatory comments made by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Pete Buttigieg ridiculed what he called the "Don't Say Gay" law that was signed by the governor.

The first openly gay man to serve in a presidential Cabinet and the father of twin infants, Buttigieg objected to the new Florida law in stark personal terms. Any discussion about sexual orientation and gender identity would be banned in some elementary school grades.

During an interview for the Yahoo News, Buttigieg said that the Florida law was hurting kids. If they were in Florida, they wouldn't be able to say they had a great time with their dads.

The new law has been promoted by the prospective Republican presidential candidate as a way of fighting the "woke gender ideology" that is being foisted upon young school children.

Buttigieg criticized political figures on the right for pushing such legislation and more than 200 bills have been introduced in state legislatures around the country.

He said that this is part of a familiar political playbook and that a lot of people don't have it.

They're looking for someone to change the subject of the culture wars. They are doubling down on the culture wars. We are going to stand with people who are vulnerable. At the end of the day, they're worried about which books to ban and we're trying to figure out which bridges to fix.

Buttigieg made fun of the comments about his marriage made over the weekend by Greene at a rally for Trump.

You know what? Pete Buttigieg can take his electric vehicles and his bicycles, and he and his husband can stay out of the girls' bathroom.

I don't know what you would do with an electric vehicle in a bathroom.

Buttigieg wondered why the media devotes coverage to remarks by members of Congress.

The most shocking thing someone said yesterday gets the most attention today. If I were to make a list of the 10 or 20 or 50 or 200 members of Congress who have commentary or thoughts, it wouldn't be the two or three members of Congress who get the most.

During a broader discussion about major economic issues he and his department are dealing with, Buttigieg made comments about soaring gas prices that are fueling inflation. Several governors, including those in Maryland, Georgia and Connecticut, have suspended state gas taxes, as well as a proposal in Congress by Democratic senators.

He pointed out that there was a downside to gas tax holidays because they would reduce revenue for highway trust funds that pay for maintaining and rebuilding roads and bridges.

The results of the trillion-dollar infrastructure bill signed by President Biden were trumpeted by Buttigieg. He pointed to the $50 million awarded to the Port of Long Beach in California to develop on-dock rails to remove containers from ships as an example of how he is using the cash to address critical supply chain issues.

When asked about the efforts of some high-profile Republicans, such as Florida Sen. Rick Scott, Buttigieg laughed and said: "I mean it is." Most people see that.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is getting the projects done. We're going to notice that if that means someone trying to collect political credit in a way that isn't consistent with how they voted. I don't want residents or citizens of any part of the country to be punished because of the behavior of their politicians, so I'm going to get less hung up on that.
