At the moment, we are still in the baby steps of drone delivery. It is a category that has had its share of setbacks and milestones. A number of startups are making gains in the space despite not everyone being impressed with the idea.
Flytrex just announced expansion outside of North Carolina. It will be operating outside of Granbury, Texas, a town of roughly 10,000 located in the greater Dallas/Forth Worth metroplex, and one time- home to Peter Mayhew.
The firm is broadening its partnership with Brink International, the restaurant conglomerate that owns well-known chains like Chili's and Maggiano's. Those who live within range can use the Flytrex app to order food. Food should be delivered to a front or backyard in less than five minutes.
The potential range of the drone is one nautical mile. The company says it is working on a bigger expansion in the United States.

Yariv Bash says in a release that they are thrilled to be soaring into the Lone Star State. We are looking forward to delivering drones to backyards across the U.S.
Flytrex piloted its first drone deliveries in 2017: In November of last year, it raised 40 million dollars, which went toward expanding its deliveries to additional suburban areas. In addition to Brink, the company has also piloted deliveries for Walmart in North Carolina, where it is working with the state's Department of Transportation in order to clear regulatory hurdles.
The company's suburban approach makes sense. It's hard to imagine a full-scale roll out of drone deliveries in a densely packed urban environment, but as the saying goes, the sky is the limit.
