The NHL regular season ends one month from now. There are many games to be played and playoff races to be run between now and then, but tonight's slate is one of the best, with 11 of the 16 teams currently in playoff position.

Two of the division leaders will be facing off, as the Colorado Avs visit the Flames. The Avs lost to the Minnesota Wild in overtime, a contest that got particularly nasty at times. The previous game was a 9-5 win for the Flames over the Oilers. The Avs blanked the Flames on March 13 and the Flames lost to the Avs 4-3 in OT on March 5.

The Carolina Hurricanes and the Tampa Bay Lightning are both playing on the same night for the first time this season, with the Hurricanes taking on the Bolts in a game that features a fight between Nikita Kucherov and Sebastian Aho at center ice. Since these two clubs could end up in the playoffs, it should be a fun one.

As we enter the post-deadline span of the 2021-22 regular season, it is time to check in on all the playoff races, along with the teams jockeying for position in the NHL draft lottery.

Playoff chances can be found via FiveThirtyEight. Damian Echevarrieta is a player in the NHL.
