Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) leaves the Senate Chamber following the nomination vote of Shalanda Young to be Director of OMB on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Romney said that he is planning a deeper dive into the Supreme Court nominee after he opposed the D.C. appeals court nomination.

Romney said on CNN+ that he had begun a deeper dive than he had before. We are looking at her judicial record as a district judge and as an appellate judge, in far more depth than we had before.

Romney said he thought some of his Republican colleagues asked respectable questions to Jackson.

Romney told host Kasie Hunt that some colleagues on his side of the aisle asked respectful questions and were able to get responses that were helpful to those making an evaluation.

Romney said that some Republicans used rhetoric that was a little hot.

I think any setting that doesn't show respect for the witness or the judge is not the right way to go. I think we should show more respect for one another. Romney said that the final analysis would be based on personal interviews with Judge Jackson and the results of the hearings.

Romney was against appointing Jackson to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. The Republicans who voted in favor of Jackson were Lindsey Graham, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.
