Academy Condemns Will Smith's Violence, Opens Oscars Investigation

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will not be dropping the Oscars incident with Will Smith and Chris Rock.

The Academy condemned the actions of Mr. Smith at last night's show. We have begun a formal review of the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our standards of conduct and California law.

The Academy usually holds a meeting after the show to discuss what happened. It is not clear what is on the table, but it could be anything from banning Will from future awards shows to taking his Oscar back. It could be a warning.

Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head while announcing the award for Best Documentary.

Will slapped Chris on the face. Will shouted from his seat, " keep my wife's name out your mouth!" after returning to his seat.
