Multiple media outlets reported Monday that Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, is expected to be interviewed by the House select committee.

The committee was interested in Thomas after it was reported that she urged Donald Trump's chief of staff to try to overturn Joe Biden's Electoral College vote.

According to NBC News, the committee will discuss in a closed-door meeting on Monday whether or not to question Thomas about the texts. The panel is likely to reach out to Thomas in the coming weeks, according to CNN.

The committee will vote to recommend that the House hold Trump's two closest advisers in contempt for not cooperating with the investigation.

On the morning of the vote, a federal judge ruled in a civil court case that a lawyer for the Trump campaign must give over more than 100 documents subpoenaed by the House investigators. The judge said that Trump probably broke the law by trying to obstruct Congress from approving Biden's win.

The bipartisan select committee is tasked with investigating the facts and causes surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, riot in which hundreds of Trump's supporters violently overwhelmed police officers and invaded the U.S. Capitol. Efforts to confirm Biden's victory over Trump in the 2020 election were temporarily derailed by the mob.

More than 500 witnesses have been interviewed, tens of thousands of documents have been received and at least 80 subpoenas have been issued by the House panel. It would mark a politically volatile development in the probe that has already faced a volley of Republican accusations of partisan bias if it were to target the wife of Thomas.

A cache of 29 text messages between Thomas andMeadows was found among the more than 2,000 messages given to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot by a mob of Trump's supporters.

After news outlets projected the winner of the 2020 election, Thomas wrote a letter to Mark. Biden and the Left are attempting the greatest Heist of our History.

On Nov. 24, Thomas received a text fromMeadows: "This is a fight of good versus evil." The King of Kings will always look like the victor. Don't be weary in doing well. The fight goes on. I've staked my career on it. At least my time in DC.

The Supreme Court revealed that Clarence Thomas had been hospitalized with an illness. According to the court, Thomas was discharged Friday morning after a week in the hospital.

Thomas did not take part in the arguments. During Monday's oral arguments, he participated remotely.
