Manchester United: Erik ten Hag needs 'football club, not commercial club'

Louis van Gaal, the former Manchester United boss, suggested that ten Hag shouldn't join the club because they are a commercial club.

The United have spoken to Ten Hag about their managerial position.

The interim boss will remain in charge until the summer.

The reigning Dutch champion has a contract with Ten Hag.

That is unlikely to be a problem if United decide that the Dutch man is the right man to replace Rangnick.

Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui and Spain coach Luis Enrique are also on the list.

During his time at Old United, Van Gaal won the FA Cup and suggested that Ten Hag should consider his options carefully.

"Erik ten Hag is a great coach and that is always good for Manchester United," said Van Gaal before the Netherlands played Germany.

Manchester United are a commercial club so it is difficult for a coach to pick them. He should go to a football club.
