Musk said that he had already tested positive for cocaine back in 2020 and that he had caught it.

I supposedly have it again, but almost no symptoms, he said early this morning.

The diagnosis is notable because of the blunders that have been made by Musk.

He jumped into the discussion early on in the outbreak, saying that the panic was dumb.

He refused to shut down the factory and encouraged employees to come to work even in the face of a shelter in place order. He sounded off about the efficacy of masks and the risk of the virus to children in ways that public health experts said were inaccurate.

He bungled things again when he promised to provide much-needed ventilators to critically ill COVID patients, before it was discovered that he had donated the wrong type of ventilator.

The CEO said that he wouldn't take the vaccine because he wasn't at risk for the virus.

He tested positive for COVID but did not reveal the news in a way that would have been seen as sowing doubt about the effectiveness of tests and seriousness of the virus. The public started calling him a "Space Karen" for his seemingly reflexively contrarian views.

By a year after the outbreak began, Musk said that he thought it was a good idea to take the vaccine.

He said that he supports vaccines in general and COVID vaccines specifically.

He still seemed to waffle on that point sometimes. He deleted a meme about Bill Gates using the vaccines for mind control and then posted an anti-vaxer meme on his account.

And now? He seems to have caught it again. He wasted no time in sowing doubt about the science behind the infection.

He referred to a classic thought experiment that was not relevant to the subject of virology.

It doesn't sound like he's very sick, but it's important to remember that most people don't get sick from COVID. The real risk is that he will spread it to someone who is elderly, immunocompromised, or just unlucky. That would be a tragedy.
