  • The Cinderella run of Saint Peter ended with a 20-point loss to UNC.

  • The head coach said he thought Saint Peter's would win a do-over.

  • The team came out timid, as the Peacocks looked overwhelmed by the size and talent of UNC.

As Saint Peter's University's thrilling Cinderella run in the NCAA Tournament came to a crashing halt on Sunday, head coach Shaheen Holloway found himself wanting a re-do.

The first 15-seed to ever reach the Elite Eight was dispatched by a North Carolina team that never appeared overwhelmed by the hype surrounding their opponents.

The Peacocks relied on timely scoring and a feisty defense in their three March Madness wins.

The offense struggled at times in the win over Purdue. It was defeated by North Carolina from the start. The Tar Heels scored the first nine points of the game and never looked back, leading by as many as 27 points in the first half.

The first 10 minutes of the game were a mystery to Holloway. Give UNC credit, they jumped on us early.

St. Peter's could have won the game.

It is an emotional time after a loss. I thought we were going to win the game. I will be honest with you. No disrespect to them. I thought we could match up well with them.

I wish we could stop this game. I would have done things differently.

Cinderella teams often end their runs with a thud because of all the thrills they deliver in upsets.

Few teams in the tournament will pity the Peacocks, however, who knocked off teams in the second and third places.

The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia was filled with Saint Peter's fans on Friday. The Boilermakers looked uneasy against Saint Peter.

The Peacocks looked as if their run had taken its toll on them on Sunday, as players looked a step slow on both ends of the court. The game was changed by three bad offensive possessions.

We took three bad shots right away. It got run-outs. They had three easy baskets. The game goes that way.

When you take bad shots, especially shots that I didn't know that one of the guys was going to take, and the next thing we know, it's 6-zip, 9-2. Those are momentum swings.

The question is whether or not he will be courted by other schools, including his alma mater. He shot down a question about his future.

I'm not worried about that right now, I'm worried about those 15 young men. It is my job as their leader to cheer them up and make sure they understand what they did.
