Sophia Dunkley says that England always believed they could win the World Cup.

The defending champion was on the verge of elimination, but four straight wins have gotten them to the semi-finals.

They will meet South Africa on Thursday.

Dunkley said they always knew they could fight for it.

England defeated Bangladesh by 100 runs in Wellington on Sunday.

They finish third in the group and will play South Africa again in the semi-finals, which they won on the way to lifting the trophy.

Dunkley said there was a lot of belief and fight in the changing room.

The four wins puts us in a very strong position.

After victories against India, New Zealand and Pakistan, England were never in danger of being knocked out of the World Cup.

Dunkley made 67 in England's 234-6 victory over Bangladesh before the spinners took three of their own.

Dunkley said that the experience of those games puts them in a good position.

It has been a good achievement to qualify from where we started.

All of the girls are very proud of the fight we have shown to get back into it. It would be amazing to show how far we have come as a group.

Dunkley was in attendance when England beat India in the 2010 World Cup final at Lord's.

Dunkley was in the stands for the two games that were away from him.

We know we can make history.
