When a new season brings new shows, it is always exciting for fans. The acquisition of the streaming service by Funimation has made it widely known that it is the best place to watch anime for a long time. The service is going through a change to its subscription model in addition to the exciting new anime that will debut in the spring season.
The free tier of the pricing plan will be eliminated. The tradeoff was that you would get simulcasts a week after the show aired on the service. Those willing to fork over a monthly fee could watch ad-free simulcasts of the premiere with Japan, along with additional bonuses. Being an ultimate fan means you can watch offline, get discounts at their online store, and get access to the digital library of Manga.
The first three episodes of a select group of shows will allow for ad-supported viewing a week after their premiere, though this will end for all the shows on May 31. Along with their premiere dates, the following spring anime are eligible for this.
In a post to the community, Crunchyroll said they wanted to encourage as many fans as possible to explore new shows and see the full benefits of the premium membership.
