Biman Bangladesh flew a trial flight on the Dhaka-Toronto route to mark Bangladesh's Independence Day. The flight took 18 hours and 35 minutes to arrive in Toronto.
The Biman Bangladesh flight took off from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh at 11:04 local time and flew eastward over India, Pakistan, Iran and much of Europe before landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport at 7:38 local time on March 27.
The return flight will leave Toronto at 10:00 am local time on March 29 and arrive in Bangladesh at 12:1 pm local time the following day.
This one-off flight is not a charter or a repatriation flight. Marking the special occasion of Independence Day, this single flight was launched on an experimental basis.
“We’ve been hoping to begin the Canada flight for the last couple of years. We decided to launch it on Mar 26 to commemorate Independence Day after the Canadian authorities finalised everything.”

The Boeing 787-9 was used for the flight. There are 30 business class seats, 21 premium economy seats, and 247 economy class seats in the new 787.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines said in a press release that the State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism inaugurated the flight on Saturday night. The launch event had representatives from the Canadian high commission present.
The Canadian government recently decided to drop all testing mandates for international passengers, but this rule will only take effect on April 1.
All passengers on the inaugural flight were required to take a negative Covid-19 test no later than 72 hours prior to departure.
