According to Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter, Apple is planning to release an iPad Pro with a M2 chip sometime between September and November of this year. According to Gurman, Apple will issue a major update for the upcoming generation of iPad Pros, which will include MagSafe charging.

Apple introduced a design with harder corners and an edge-to-edge display for the iPad Pro in the fall of 2018, according to Gurman. After the release of the iPad Pro 10.5, this update came about a year and a half later.

The new iPad Pro is also rumored to have a glass backing

The most recent generation of iPad Pros was launched in May of 2021. It is rumored that Apple will spend anywhere between one year and four months and one year and six months preparing the new model.

During Apple's performance event earlier this month, the company showed off its newest iPad Air but left out an updated model of the iPad Pro. Gurman predicted last year that the iPad Pro would have wireless charging and a glass backing. A report from 9to5Mac corroborates this claim, but its sources say Apple may have abandoned the glass back design, opting for an aluminum back with a glass Apple logo instead.

The rumored M2 chip hasn't been confirmed by Apple, so there hasn't been much information about it. Gurman thinks the chip will have the same eight-core architecture and will be slightly faster than its predecessor. He expects Apple to add the M2 to the new iPad Pro, as well as to the new 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac that are rumored for release later this year. Gurman thinks that the rumored M2 chip will be in the new MacBook Air, while the analyst thinks it will come with the M1 chip.
