"I wish he would just stay on script': GOP Sen. Jim Risch responds to Biden's controversial comments on Putin during Poland speech

The GOP senator criticized the president after he gave a fiery speech in Poland about Russian President Putin.

I would like him to stay on script. The Idaho lawmaker said during an interview with CNN that whoever wrote that speech did a good job, but he wished they would keep him on script.

At the end of his speech from the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland, Biden said that Putin cannot remain in power.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Sunday that the US does not have a strategy of regime change in Russia.

The ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee called the remark a "horrendous gaffe" in an interview with CNN.

The kind of eruption that they did was caused by the nine words that he uttered. Even if he said that the policy was regime change, it would cause a huge problem. There isn't much more you can do to call for regime change.

He asked Mr. President to stay on script.
