Russia halted sales of rocket engines to the US after Musk addressed the quality of Russian engines.

In an interview with the CEO of Insider's parent company, Musk said the Russian-made RD-180 engine is a great one.

He acknowledged Boeing and other US companies that use Russian engines.

ULA, a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin, uses the RD-180 engine to power its Atlas V rocket. Delays have caused frustration, but the plan is for the engine to be produced by Blue Origin.

Russia stopped supplying rocket engines to the US in response to sanctions over the invasion of Ukraine, according to Musk.

We can't supply the United States with our world's best rocket engines in a situation like this. The head of the Russian space agency said that they should let them fly on something else.

Musk was asked if it was dangerous for the United States of America.

In response, Musk said that Boeing and Lockheed relied on the Russian engine. To be fair, it is a great engine.

They hope to move away from that in the future with engines from Blue Origin. I believe the ants use the RD-180. They won't be able to fly as a result.

The two-stage vehicle rocket, called antares, provides low-earth orbit capability for up to 8,000 kilogrammes. It is used for NASA's commercial missions as part of the company's contract with the space agency.

Musk's comments echo a concern by record-breaking astronauts about international cooperation within the space industry.

The use of Russian rocket engines by the US is more dependent on them than she thinks it should be.

We rely on Russian engines a bit more than we should, and I would like to see more rocket engine development in the US. I think that would be good for us.

In regards to whether the halted sales of Russian engines posed risk or opportunity, Musk said: "We design and manufacture our own rocket engines." We did not own any Russian components.
