There is a tense battle to seal a spot in the playoffs.

There are four automatic places in South America and only one intercontinental playoff place to play for. The team that finishes fifth in the group will take on the winners of the Asian playoff path for a place at the World Cup.

CONCACAF

The region has three automatic places and no team has yet qualified.

Panama

The United States, Mexico and Canada can qualify.

There are two rounds of qualification on Sunday and Wednesday. The fourth-place team will face the winners of the Oceania region to make the World Cup.

Africa

The five places in Africa are decided by two-legged playoffs. The winners of the five ties will advance to the World Cup.

Lebanon

The two teams will play in the final. The other spot is still up for grabs on Tuesday, with Australia securing their place. If they win at home, they will take it. Iraq is best placed to overtake Syria if they fail to win.

Oceania

The winner of the Oceania region will play the winner of the CONCACAF region for a place at the World Cup finals. The semifinals will be played on Sunday and the final on Wednesday.

The Solomon Islands and the People's Republic of New Zealand are competing.
