The UFC superstar requested a release from his contract.

The request was made on social media on Saturday. The accounts of the UFC and Dana White were tagged by him. Hunter Campbell is the UFC's chief business officer.

I apologize for asking online but you don't give me a fight.

Requests for additional comment were not immediately responded to. Three days later, he wrote on social media, "Been trying to fight for seven months."

In recent months, the UFC fighter has shown his frustration on social media, showing his displeasure on the final fight of his contract. He has publicly offered to fight a number of opponents, including Vicente Luque, Tony Ferguson, and former interim championDustin Poirier, but has yet to be booked.

According to sources, there have been discussions between the UFC and Diaz about extending his contract, but the two sides have not reached an agreement.

White said there was a good chance the UFC would sign Diaz to a new deal. The promotion intends to book a fight with White.

A decision loss to Leon Edwards in June of last year has not resulted in a fight since. He had expressed a desire to remain active after the fight, but is now almost nine months away from doing so.

According to sources, the UFC has offered a fight against Chimaev since the June bout. Chimaev has no UFC experience. He told the website in December that he shouldn't disrespect me by trying to fight a rookies.

Chimaev is scheduled to face Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 on April 9. Burns is currently the UFC's No.-2 ranked.

Since 2007, he has fought in the UFC. He was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter and fought for the lightweight title. One of the biggest rivalries in the history of the sport was his two-fight fight with the Irishman.
