As Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine, President Joe Biden declared that Putin cannot stay in power. The White House walked back the comment.
Biden said at the conclusion of his speech from the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland, that Putin cannot remain in power. He said that Russia hadangled democracy with its aggression.
Biden has already issued strong rebukes of Putin, calling him a war criminal and a murderer.
The White House denied that Biden called for a regime change.
The President said that Putin couldn't exercise power over his neighbors or the region. A White House official told Fox News that he was not discussing Putin's power in Russia.

The Secretary of State said that the US was not seeking a regime change.
It is not about regime change for us. The Russian people have to decide who they want to lead them.
The White House wouldn't say if Biden's statement was part of his prepared remarks for the speech.
Thousands of people have been killed and many more have been displaced as a result of Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Russian forces have been accused of war crimes.
Several rockets struck the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, just 45 miles away from Poland, as Biden was in Warsaw.
