America's most powerful institutions are working to suppress dissent.
The Hunter Biden laptop story that turned out to be true is hard to ignore.
The New York Times reported last week that they had obtained email from a cache of files that appeared to have come from a laptop abandoned by Mr. Biden was in a Delaware repair shop.
The New York Post broke a story in 2020 about emails sent from the laptop of the president's son. Hunter may have been using his father's name and office to enrich himself. It raised a lot of questions about whether or not Joe Biden was involved.
Don't celebrate The New York Times' sudden commitment to truth and accuracy. The paper acknowledged that the emails were real in the 24th paragraph of the story.
It acknowledged that it got things wrong a year late and a dollar short.
The Times and most of the legacy media dismissed the story when it broke. They promoted the idea that it was likely Russian misinformation.
NPR couldn't cover the story because itsassertions don't amount to much.
This is the same publicly funded media network that aired a segment about decolonizing fitness and how exercising is white supremacy.
It wasn't just the legacy media that refused to investigate the issue. The Post expos were suppressed by Big Tech. People were not allowed to post it on the website, and people were not allowed to see it.
When the Hunter laptop story was suppressed, Jack Dorsey, who was the CEO at the time, said that blocking the story was a total mistake, but never explained how the mistake was made.
The Hunter Biden story shows the sham of Big Tech's war on misinformation.
Is Big Tech trying to stop misinformation, or is it just a smoke screen to justify the suppression of information or ideas that interfere with the Democrat Party's agenda?
A group of intelligence experts put their name to a statement saying that the Hunter Biden story has all the hallmarks of a classic earmark.
They had no evidence to support their claims.
Trust the experts. Isn't that what we are told all the time?
The former intelligence officials said that Americans need to be aware that Russia is trying to influence how they vote.
In the 2020 presidential campaign, Biden used this letter to prove that it was all Republican misinformation.
They were wrong. It appears that the former intelligence operatives were trying to influence the elections. Americans need to be aware of this.
Is there any accountability for the people and institutions that got this wrong? Not at all.
None of the former senior officials have apologized or shown accountability for their actions. Some doubled down.
James Clapper, the former Director of National Intelligence, only said that he stood by the statement they made at the time.
Andy Liepman told the Post that he stood by his statement, but he was busy.
Some in the intelligence services have forgotten that they serve us.
The New York Post pointed out that the former intelligence officials didn't just get the facts wrong. They tried to turn a story about potential Biden family corruption into a story about how Russian election interference was hurting the Bidens.
When they were engaging in political hackery, they used their positions as a pedestal of authority.
The Hunter Biden laptop story is more than just media malpractice and political hackery.
It is more than just Big Tech censorship.
The bigger story is about how all of the above work together to suppress information that hurts an ideological and political cause that they value most and amplify favored narratives regardless of merit.
They are now promoting the narrative over the truth.
The elite institutions that used to be nonpartisan, bipartisan, or at least somewhat objective are now willing to use their power to crush dissent.
There were clear implications for what looked like a closely matched presidential election in the case of the Hunter Biden story.
A Media Research Center poll of Biden voters in key 2020 election swing states found that not only were many unaware of the Hunter Biden story, but also that its revelation would have changed their vote.
For a moment, think about this. This same group of institutions promoted the story of Russia's involvement in the election of Donald Trump. The New York Times and Washington Post won the Pulitzer Prize for their coverage.
The Biden laptop reporting broke and was suppressed on the eve of the election. The story was dismissed because it was preposterous. It was true.
If they were willing to use all their power to project false information to the public, what other things have they been wrong about?
There has been no explanation for what happened.
The crisis of accountability was called by the editor of the Wall Street Journal. The way people in power can be kept in check is through the ballot box.
How can that work when the people we want to hold accountable decide what information the voters are allowed to see?
That is a fair and chilling question. The Hunter Biden story is a big deal because of that.
It's bad enough that the president's son may have used his father's position to enrich himself. The institutional corruption that suppressed and manipulated the story to suit political ends is threatening to our free society.
This story is about a willful distortion of truth and suppression of reality by those who think they will never be held accountable.
