Three teenagers were indicted by a Texas grand jury on second-degree assault charges after their football teammate was jumped and severely beaten.

According to a police affidavit, Cole was lured outside of a pool party in Lake Jackson, Texas by his peers from Brazoswood High School.

According to witness statements given to police, Mitchell had planned the attack for several days and was the one who attacked the high school junior.

A grand jury in Texas indicted Mitchell, Huber, and Holland on Thursday for felony assault in the second degree.

The three teens could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, according to the attorney for the family.

The father of Cole told Insider that it has been a lot of stress waiting for the indictments, which came four months after Cole was brutally attacked.

It was a sense of relief, just to put it mildly. They have been working hard to get the indictments out. It has been a relief for the family.

Attorney Steve Gonzalez, representing Holland, did not respond to the request for comment.

According to the affidavit, in December, Huber told police that he witnessed Mitchell punch him, bear hug him, slam him to the ground, and then get on top of him and elbow him in the face.

According to the affidavit, two of his friends found him laying in the street bleeding from his ears. He was hospitalized with a number of injuries, including a broken collarbone and multiple brain bleeds.

His brother previously told Insider that he would probably never play football again. In December, the Hagan family filed a lawsuit against 16 people, seeking an excess of $50 million in damages and naming several of their peers and their parents, who the lawsuit said should have known of the plan to attack Cole Hagan.

On the civil side, we are moving forward, Klitsas told Insider on Saturday. The criminal side will get these guys, because they got indicted.
