Two pilots from the U.S. were shot in the same week. Both of the incidents occurred near their layover hotels. Both are expected to make a full recovery from their injuries.

Carriers are reminding their crew to be alert during their foreign layovers, and not to resist the temptation to be robbed. As reported by JonNYC.

In the case of United, they are kinda firmly reminding their crews -not- to resist armed robbery. Both pilots were seriously injured, but expected to fully recover, thankfully.

Sounds like there have been some other occurrences as well.

There is a safety memo for American Airlines. The American Airlines crew were robbed at the Costa Rica airport from their hotel last year. The year before the American Airlines pilot was caught in gunfire outside a Puerto Rico strip club.

It's not a bad thing to have bad things happen anywhere, but it's also not a good thing to have bad things happen late in the last decade. Two pilots were shot in the same week.
