15-seed Saint Peter's continues Cinderella run with historic win vs. Purdue (0:41)

The first 15-seed to ever advance to the Elite Eight in NCAA tournament history was Saint Peter's. (0:41)

You will probably watch the NCAA tournament for a long time before you see anything similar to what the Saint Peter's Peacocks have done. It's historic. It is amazing. Everything that March should deliver is above all.

You have already heard that the first 15 seed to reach the Elite Eight is the team from Shaheen Holloway. If this were all the Peacocks had done, it would be amazing.

Saint Peter's has made it this far with a combination of relentless defense and persistent offense. The shots weren't falling for the Peacocks for much of the game against the Boilermakers, but the team took care of the ball and even picked up some crucial offensive rebound late in the game. The cruel math of the brackets has been allowed to rise by efforts like this.

The purpose of the NCAA tournament is to send you home. Look at the field of 68 and you will see that most of the teams have been eliminated.

The math made no difference to the top seeds like Arizona and Arizona State. Saint Peter's was the one that sent the Wildcats home. That was exceptional.

The Peacocks win over UK was included in the round of 64. You can recall some of the storied names in this category, and you also know that Florida Gulf Coast and Oral Roberts made it to the Sweet 16 last year.

FGCU and ORU have been beaten by SPU. The lowest seed ever to reach a regional final was smashed by the Peacocks. In 2002 and last year, Oregon State and Missouri both played in the Elite Eight as 12th seeds.

If you look at the tournament runs of the Tigers and the Beavers, you will see that both teams performed brilliantly while also having their paths smoothed by an upset in their brackets.

That has not been the case with Saint Peter's. Every opponent in the path has been the highest seed. First there was Kentucky, then Murray State and finally Purdue. SPU is taking on all comers, and the brackets didn't fall apart.

Winning three games as a No. 15 is one of the most unlikely tournament events of the modern era. It's an extreme event that UMBC defeated top seed Virginia by 20. In 2010 and 2011, Butler made back-to-back national title games.

The moments have stood the test of time. The Peacocks will meet the same threshold in a different way.

A three-win run is more than a single game. The Brad Stevens-era teams earned higher seeds than Saint Peter's did.

We are right to be in awe of the accomplishment of the Peacocks. We have never seen a team that low win so many games in the NCAA tournament.

The entire team rushed to the side of the court when the horn sounded to celebrate their win over the Boilermakers. Doug Edert was on the press table. Fans of the team have good reason to be proud. We have seen nothing like what we have seen from SPU. It could not have happened in March.
