The wireless controller of the Xbox One is reliable. It might run into a problem similar to a wireless device: the darn thing just won't connect.

There are a number of reasons why an Xbox One controller might not connect to its console, but the problems are usually easy to fix.

The wireless connection can be interfered with by anything that is between the controller and the console.

Any computers, microwave ovens, shelves, and doors are included. Move them out of the way so that you can see if your controller will connect.

Some accessories, like keyboards, mouses, and external hard drives, can cause interference. Try connecting the controller again after you disconnected them all.

It might be time to get a new controller if none of the steps have worked. If the problem is not the console itself, you need to rule it out.

If you connect the controller to another console, you might have an issue with your Xbox One. If you attempt to connect a different controller to your console but it doesn't connect well, then the problem is not the controllers.

If your controller fails to connect to any other console while other controllers can, it's probably broken. It is time to get a new one.
