A Western official said that Russian soldiers ran their commander over in protest of the heavy losses they have suffered during the invasion of Ukraine.

Several UK defense writers cited the official on Friday.

It appeared to confirm a story about a senior commander being run over by a tank.

According to the defense editor of The Times of London, the commander has been killed by one of his own units and the colonel was deliberately run over.

Sky News security and defense editor Deborah Haynes named the commander of the 37 Motor Rifle brigade as Colonel Medvechek.

The earlier report had named him as Colonel Yuri Medvedev.

According to Haynes, the official said he was run over by his soldiers.

The brigade commander of one of the units was killed by his own troops and killed by his own troops, we believe, as a consequence of the scale of loss that had been taken by his brigade.

The colonel's feet were crushed but he was not killed.

A soldier ran over an officer's legs with a tank, and was brought to a hospital in Belarus, according to a Ukrainian journalist.

Russia's progress in invading Ukraine has been slower than expected. Intelligence officials have said that Russian forces are low in confidence and that they were misled about the invasion.

A NATO member said on Wednesday that up to 15,000 Russian troops may have been killed. Over the course of two decades, fewer than 3000 American troops were killed in Afghanistan.
