Triple H sat down with Stephen A. Smith for an interview that will air on Stephen A.'s World later tonight. Triple H admitted in the interview that his cardiac event was life threatening and he would never wrestle again.

Triple H said that he had fluid in his lungs and arms and that his heart ejection fraction had gone down. A normal ejection fraction is between 55 and 60 percent.

By the time I got to the emergency room, my ejection fraction had gone down to 22, according to Triple H.

I was in heart failure. It was bad. By the next morning, as they figured that out that evening, they were sending me in for a heart cath and my ejection fraction was down to 12. I was nosediving at the one-yard line of where you want to be, or where you don't want to be, for your family and your future.

Triple H said he would never wrestle again when asked if he would ever wrestle again. I have a device in my chest. It's probably not a good idea for me to get zapped on live TV.

The process of grooming Triple H to be the heir-apparent to Vince McMahon was part of what led to him leading the NXT. While at the helm of the original iteration of NXT, Triple H endeared himself to hardcore fans by offering a wrestling-heavy.

Triple H was stripped of his power in the company after the Wednesday Night Wars, with many of his front-office aides relieved of their duties as the Nick Khan era began. The rise of NXT 2.0, now reimagined under Vince McMahon's administration, coincides with the January firings of Brian Jams and William Regal, who recently joined AEW.

Triple H said he was done with wrestling, but his future behind the scenes is not clear. It appears that Paul Levesque is on the mend after a serious health scare.
