The Mariupol City Council wrote in a Telegram post that the theater had become a shelter for hundreds of residents before the bombing.

Ukrainian officials have said hundreds of people are still missing after the collapse.

Russian forces have deliberately destroyed the city of Mariupol, making communication with officials in the city difficult. Mariupol residents risk their lives every time they leave shelter, as Russian forces have hit the city with near constant bombardment for days.
