Satellite imagery shows that Russian forces continue to destroy apartment buildings in Mariupol.

Satellite imagery shows some of the damage. Some of the houses around the apartment blocks in Mariupol were reduced to rubble as well as the two photos captured on Tuesday by Maxar Technologies.

A satellite operated by San Francisco-based company Planet captured a shot of fires in Mariupol on Sunday.

The destroyed Mariupol theater was snapped by a Planet spaceship on Monday, as civilians sought safety from the shelling. The Russian word for children is visible in the photo, written in large white letters near the theater to indicate that it was not a military target.

1,300 people were in the theater when it was bombed, according to Ukrainian officials. It is difficult to get an accurate count because Mariupol remains a war zone, according to CNN.
