According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, at least five journalists have been killed while covering the war in Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale invasion on February 24.

There are reports of at least two other journalists being killed in Ukraine since the war began a month ago. Other journalists have been injured, gone missing, or have been arrested.

Those who have been killed highlight the risks to reporters documenting the war as journalists get pushed out of places like the besieged city of Mariupol.

The first journalist to be killed in the conflict was a Ukrainian journalist. He worked as a camera operator for the Ukrainian television station LIVE.

According to Sergiy Tomilenko, the head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, the man was killed by Russian shelling on a television tower. The attack, which killed four other people, was called a war crime by the International and European Federations of Journalists.

Brent Renaud

The American journalist was killed in Ukraine. According to the outlet, Renaud was in the region working on a project for Time magazine focused on the global refugee crisis.

We are devastated by the loss of a friend. Time said that as an award-winning filmmaker and journalist, he tackled the toughest stories around the world with his brother Craig.

Ukrainian officials said that Renaud was killed when a vehicle he was in was hit by Russian shelling.

The 50-year-old filmmaker has won several awards for his work. He collaborated with his brother, Craig, and produced work for major news outlets.

Pierre Zakrzewski

Pierre Zakrzewski was a cameraman who was killed while covering the war for Fox News. The vehicle they were travelling in was struck by gunfire outside of Kyiv and they died on March 14.

Benjamin Hall, a correspondent for Fox News, was injured in the attack, but has since made it out of Ukraine.

Fox CEO Suzanne Scott said the journalists were newsgathering when their vehicle was struck by incoming fire.

Scott said that today is a sad day for FOX News Media and for all journalists who risk their lives to deliver the news.

She said that everyone in the media industry who has covered a foreign story knew and respected Pierre.

Zakrzewski was an Irish citizen and experienced journalist who had previously covered wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Fox News Pentagon reporter Lucas Tomlinson and Fox News anchor John Roberts were among the journalists who paid tribute to him.

Oleksandra Kuvshynova

Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova was one of the two Fox News journalists killed when their vehicle was struck by gunfire.

A producer for Fox News was working as a consultant on the war in Ukraine.

Scott, Fox News CEO, said that Kuvshynova was incredibly talented and spent weeks working directly with our entire team.

Fox News producer Yonat Friling and Fox News Foreign Correspondents wrote about Kuvshynova.

Oksana Baulina

Russian journalist Oksana Baulina was killed on March 23 by a Russian airstrike on a shopping center in Kyiv, Ukraine, the independent Russian news site The Insider said in a statement.

Baulina was reporting on the war for The Insider when she was killed.

The Insider expressed its deepest sympathies to Oksana's family and friends.

Baulina worked for the Anti-Corruption Foundation, founded by Alexei Navalny, a critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Reports of other journalists killed

The Committee to Protect Journalists told Insider that it had only confirmed the deaths of five journalists who were killed in the war in Ukraine.

At least seven journalists have been killed since the war began.

According to the outlet, the journalist was killed on February 26.

According to a post on his wife's Facebook page, Viktor Dedov was killed by shelling in Mariupol on March 11. Dedov was a cameraman.
